Marco Sassoon has a background in psychology, medical anthropology, and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. His current PhD project at the University of Cologne investigates the effects of repressive border enforcement on individual and community psychosocial health in Dakar, Senegal. His research interests include the embodiment of structural inequalities in health experiences, the production of biopolitical knowledge in plural medical landscapes, and creative resilience strategies developed by marginalized actors. He is also a therapist and activist in Sportello TiAscolto, a critically-inspired healthcare service in Italy.
