We warmly invite you to the next ENPA Works-in-Progress Seminar (WiPS)* on Thursday, the 30th of January at 5PM CET via Zoom.
We are delighted to introduce this month’s presenter, Jeannine-Madeleine Fischer from University of Konstanz, who will share her work-in-progress titled:
Navigating Solidarity: The Shaping of Activist Affects
In this talk I explore how different shades of solidarity are negotiated among South African land activists. Based on my ethnographic research I discuss how scapes of political belonging are taking shape around concepts such as the ‚comrade‘, the ‚leader‘ or the activist ‚family‘. These meaningful notions engender embodied and affective modes of becoming in and relating to the social world. Conceiving of emotion as the ‚in-between‘ of relationships, I shed light on the particular discourses and practices that shape the affective forms solidarity takes in activist lifeworlds.
We hope to see many of you on Thursday, January 30th and look forward to the lively discussion.
