WiPS: Can Danish Tryghed add value to Organizations Beyond “Psychological Safety”?, Ruth Aharoni Nielsen, 27 March

We warmly invite you to the next ENPA Works-in-Progress Seminar (WiPS)* on Thursday, the 27th of March at 5PM CET via Zoom.

We are delighted to introduce this month’s presenter, Ruth Aharoni Nielsen from University Hospital of Copenhagen Central Region, who will share her work-in-progress titled:

Can Danish Tryghed add value to Organizations Beyond “Psychological Safety”?

This study investigates whether the Danish emotional concept of tryghed—a deep sense of emotional safety, trust, and well-being—offers additional value to organizations beyond ‘psychological safety’. While ‘psychological safety’ has gained recognition for its role in workplace well-being and performance (Edmondson, 2023), Danish culture has long prioritized tryghed (~safeness) as a foundation for well-being and productivity (Levisen, 2012). This research examines how tryghed is experienced, communicated, and enacted in organizations, identifying the relational and structural conditions that are related to it. Using RegionH, Denmark’s Capital Region, as a case study, it further explores whether tryghed better explains well-being and organizational outcomes (e.g., turnover, effectiveness) than ‘psychological safety’ alone.
