“Guardians of Science: validation and institutionalization of parallel psychology fields in contemporary Iran”

by Zahra Abbasi, University of Oslo

This work delves into the widespread notion of elm or science, and elmi or scientific as pivotal validation markers in self-care practices and health norms, contrasting these with theological practices within the Iranian context. Specifically, the research question focuses on the narratives constructed  by advocates and stakeholders affiliated with the Iranian Association of Psychology in either endorsing and/or subverting the efforts to institutionalize their respective disciplines.

The ENPA Works-in-Progress Seminar is a venue for researchers, faculty and postgraduate students to present ongoing work, receive feedback and share ideas about their research in psychological anthropology and allied fields.

The seminar meets monthly via Zoom.
